My stopping more extreme driving really had most to do with physical circumstances, ie neck and back pain due to injuries etc rather than anything else :( unfortunately...:(

Yes Serg, There were a handfull of 101s, a salisbury diffed RRC and a series 3 that I designed airlocker conversions to the existing salisbury carrier for about16 years ago.
it basically locked the diff cross shaft to one side gear via a 30mm long splined stub shaft that rode in the female splined cross shaft and was activated by an internal pneumatic servo that was fitted inside of and concentric with the axle tube and halfshaft. There was a bit more to it that might prove confusing to explain in words, but you get the idea.
Fitting them to 101s was a PITA because the internal diameter and thickness of their axle tubes varied significantly, and the OD of the pneumatic servo had to be custom machined to suit.
Sorry to hear about your physical ailments Justin.

When i enquired at ARB head office about 20 years ago, their Sals air locker was different to the d60s in that the hemisphere was machined to take the same size sidegears and 4 pinion gears as their Landcruiser locker, and they were not prepared to brooch landRover 24 spline holes in their d60 sidegear blanks for me .Don't know if they have changed their ways, but they seem quite prepared to bend over backwards to please the US market with specials.

I haven't looked at them for a long time either and the parts list is interesting.
The RD161 (new Sals) and RD163 (one of the new D60's) look like the same major assembly as they share a lot of bits, including case but the side gears are a different part number as you can only buy as a complete six gear set (and obviously a different spline count between models)
[edit] meaning you could use the 30 spline side gears down the track if you wanted to upgrade the Sals axles. (if that wasn't obvious enough  )

:(, 23 years ago I sustained a serious spinal injury and shattered dislocated my left arm/ shoulder, so now it is getting a bit difficult to enjoy bouncing around in a 4bee for hours on end:( Still, there are a LOT worse off than me after a head on with a car on Mcycle so I shouldn't whine about it too much:D
Hope you have an enjoyable and restful break Bill.

Thank you Justin, Seasons greeting to you and yours too.
Will be a couple of weeks before I can put my feet up though:(
Grass is growing faster than I can keep it under control, and every damn piece of machinary I have to sustain us out here has picked this week to lay down and die. There goes the holiday travel budget.Still, beats being stuck in suburbia by a country mile.
Bill.
Just bumping this as the one diff lock we all forget about is TJM's.
Their Sals Pro-Locker (nee-McNamara) diff lock is pt. # 168PL08, and they have a P38 diff version too for 90/110/130's
