so I borrowed the multimeter and as land rovers do the light hasn't came on at all today, so im borrowing the multimeter for a few days as a good luck charm

the battery after sitting overnight cold in the morning read around the 12.6-and a bit mark, once started, the alternator put out a constant 14v which although i havent checked sounds about right dosn't it?

    so....... none the wiser really.

When, (if) i get home I'll blow the dust out and order some new bushes and maybe the pack thing on the back, diaodes?

    FYI .....
I have a spare serpentine belt Alternator if yours totally fails and leaves you stranded on the road home

Before I forget, here's a link that may interest you. - Dunno if its the LR alternator, just fascinated by the 'normal' and 'sales' prices.
    - Anyway, I was looking for some diode pics...

Alternator - Buy Magneti Marelli Alternator Online

PIcs of difFeRAnT diode (rectifier) packs:-
    - If you look closely at the third pic, you'll see Mike's black diodes, being used as 'Field-Feed' rectifiers

I'm right with you there you can never have too many field-feed rectifiers

    how did it go?

the same thing happened to my D1 tonight, except there has been a lot of squealing from the belt. i tightened the belt a month ago by moving the alternator, but the squealing came back yesterday, and today the batt light is coming on and the rev meter isn't working.

    brrrrrr/.
