Where to find engine number on 4.4 P76 engine
I have to get a 28 day permit for a RRC fitted with one of these and haven't as yet found the location of the engine number. Doesn't appear to be in same location as Rover v8s. Anyone know location?
Thanks.
Bill.

Behind the passenger side rocker cover, above the bell housing flange.

Easiest way to tell a Leyland 4.4 is that there will be no engine number on a pad near the dip stick as well as no pad . The engine number is on the back of the block near the fire wall Pass side , a mirror is needed to see it in the car. (extract from another post on aulro)

Not always true, well sort of true.
My P76 block Rockhampton engine was re-stamped with the same number on the front of the block so it could be read.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

It turned out that I only had to provide the chassis number to get the permit. Just as well, because with the engine so close to the firewall, the number is unreadable.
