    Power steering box adjustment

    Defender county 1986 steering box adjustment. I need to adjust the steering and found that the centre adjuster is corroded in the locknut. Is there any problem removing the adjuster completely (apart from fluid leakage). Is the adjuster just a simple stud or something more sophisticated. Can I just make a replacement.

    It's a little more complicated - have a look at the attached pic. Even though you may have a 3 bolt steering box, the design is mostly the same.

    I've had good results from freeze and release - a loctite product. That's the best idea I have at the moment.
