Call me a girly blouse, but I really want an outside temperature reading on my Defender, as I've gotten used to having this info on my Rangie! One way for radiator temp, the other way for outside temp. Anyway - that's what I'd like if possible.

Jaycar sell a neat little voltage, clock, temp gauge for about $40. Mine is 10years old now and is slightly different to the latest one but it has inside and outside temp, voltage( and I have a two way switch for starting and aux) . Has been great and is very compact and can be just stuck somewhere with double sided tape. I have mine on the console of my RRC just bleow the window switches.

BTW, you can lengthen the thermocouple wires on the gauge. In fact you have to as it only comes with 1 metre. if you could get more thermocouples , you could easily switch between them with a double pole switch. Why not ask the vendor when you order on ebay.

I had one from Jaycar, too. The trouble was that when the temp hit 30deg C, the display went to a series of dashes.

I emailed the seller, asking for pricing on additional thermocouples.

They come in different lengths of wiring. You can get:
    - 1m for $5
    - 2m for $6
    - 3m for $7

Postage included in the above amounts.

Mine drops out at 50C or if in the sun at around that temp when it goes black. I have only seen this a couple of times thank goodness.

i fitted mine up to the jz to day, put it in the top hose,

reads super qwick, the unit its self is abit big, was a real punk to find a good spot out of the way,

found the sensor wires wayyyy to short, so just added in some extra wire, shouldent change the resistence much,

allso the unit dosent tell you witch way is + and - wires go, so i just guessed and worked first go, i dident try it the other way round,

also there is a bit of a bugger up going from chinse to english in the destructions i just want it as a gauge enyway,
