My Allianz policy which I bought off a LR dealer states in the Extended Used Vehicle Warranty Insurance Schedule :

Policy# ************
Vehicle Vin number **************
The Insured - My name.

In the policy booklet is states under General Conditions:

2 - Transfer of the Policy
You can not transfer this policy.

So sorry it does not sound good for your friend.
Get out his policy and have a good read over!

Is that transferrable between vehicles though? (as opposed to owners).

Well then Land Rover can be done for false advertising, as the quote I posted above is from Land Rover's website - specifically talking about the Allianz Extended Warranty.

Don't want to hijack the thread, other than I was 'stuffed' about with a car manufacturers warranty, all ended well in my favour which included lawyers. Lesson to come out of it was - never trust a car manufacturers warranty, that includes those extend packages.

Caveat emptor!

There are different policies from Allianz, they have tightened up on what you can claim especially on Second hand vehicles.

As I said - CHECK YOUR POLICY for wording and conditions.

Thanks Rich and others, but appears that you cant transfer from Vehicle to Vehicle , however it is transferable owner to owner as stated in their advertised Blurb .
We shall see what we shall see !!!
