Clark rubber has a range of rubber tape (deformable and non deformable) with sticky on either sides that will do the job.

My concern with a sikaflex type liquid sealant is that when the panels are riveted together they may displace the sikaflex enough to get to a metal on metal contact again. The tape avoids this as it wont displace when compressed.Quote:

Thought I'd drag this back up again. My searching at clark rubber didn't bring anything up as my local store doesn't have much stock (understatement...). But while searching for more info about seam sealer's I stumbled across a nice way to apply the sealer's in a tube, simply mask off the edges, apply and roughly brush out the product.
This link shows the seam sealer being used in the traditional sense, but the application method looks sound, simply let dry before riveting panels together. I will be giving this a shot first up to see how it goes as the tubes are only $15.
