I would like more torque aswell. I am using a Rangie engine so I don't have any detuning parts on my 3.5. Are you going to build it then bring it to the engineer or make the mods and trailer it down. I have to go all the way to Perth just to pick up the car and possibly bring it back up there to get the certificate. A 700Km round trip with a trailer. It's nowhere near as far as you have to travel but it's still annoying.

I picked up the Rangie yesterday, I'm very pleased with it. The chassis is brilliant (except the rear cross member which I don't need), the 3.5 V8 sounds and runs like a dream, the gearbox and tranfer case change smoothly without any clunking and whining and the steering is pretty good except for a bit of play. The body isn't in as great condition, it's got a fair bit of rust in areas but it came with so many spare bits and pieces like gearbox seals, spare head gaskets, other little gaskets, original stickers, fuel and air filters and other assorted spares. The noise is fantastic, when you put your foot down it roars forward an has plenty of punch to move you along.

I don't know what I'll do with mine and it will depend on what the stupid Department comes up with. If they're that difficult, then I'll contact various state government ministers and be as annoying as possible as it's ridiculous that you can be so penalised by living anywhere that's not in Perth.
I was once told by a Department drone that I could drive my modified car to Perth . . . which highly amused the reasonable Department people I asked up here! So, who knows.

The Department is really run buy silly and stupid people. A quick question, I've never owned a rangie before I'm wondering about the diff lock, which position is engaged up or down.

An update on how the 100" is going, at the moment I'm calling it the Land Ranger but it can change, the panel thats painted is the colour I'm going to paint it (gun metal grey). The body is only on there lightly cause we need to strip it down and get the certificate and paint the chassis. The good news is that the engine and gearbox don't leak and probably won't need a rebuild except for maybe the valve seals. In one of the pics you can see the old IIA that I've resprayed in $3 brunswick green.

I like that you're going for a proper rear tub.
Keep posting updates.
I'd be interested in photo's of the chassis when you strip the panels off.

I've got a few photos of the chassis before we put the body work on and I'll try to get them up soon. We had to modify the bulkhead outriggers to allow clearance for the radius arms.

Love your work,
heres some pics of the underside of my old Series2 on a shoretened RR chassis if they are any help. (oops better late than never)
I dont think I had to modify my firewall outriggers, dont remember doing it , but looking at the photo now perhaps I did ???
but I did have to cut the corners off my petrol tank.
Also cut the RR chassis directly behind the Rear spring mounts & welded the back section of the 88 chassis complete with rear xmember on there. Notice the Series 2 shackle mounts are still on the rear section
btw, also hand painted with hardware shop fence paint :)

The modified outriggers, they're just tack welded on for now. We got the bulkhead on after the first day.

Have you done a search for pictures of coil-conversion chassis? There have been heaps made in England over the years and by now the companies would have all the details sorted out. I seem to remember that outrigger just had the underneath raised up a bit instead of being notched.
