I used to have a gas torch which was designed for brazing, heating and cutting using Comp air and LPG/Propane gas.

I got it from an old boiler maker who showed me how it worked and a BBQ bottle lasted ages cutting unlike a bottle or Acetylene let alone the Oxy.

Only problem is, it burned out the tip due to me using it in correctly and not realising it and then I found out they no longer exist so I couldn't get parts.

I can't remember the brand other than they were an English company and during the 40's and 50's very popular in the states.

It looked like a BBQ regulator with a oxy reg on the outlet side with a gauge, only had the 1 hose going to the gas bottle and the airline just clipped onto the back of the hand piece.

The had piece had 3 knobs like a cutting torch and the lever like a normal cutting torch but the blower nozzle was a separate pipe which was in front of the heating nozzle.

The lower the pressure the less holes seemed to light up so you never changed tips for going between jobs just set the pressure correctly.

I wish I still had it and could get parts for it as it was so quick and simple to use, and that probably why they are not around now, not enough money in them for parts, testing and rent.

    Cheers Casper

It costs me $15.27/month per D bottle (incl) from Air Liquide + the cost of the oxy and acetylene.

I bashed BOC down to like $13/month rental, every else was 15+ then got them to match the gas prices

Still, they have made a smart move by sowing up the market

http://www.tesuco.com.au/Home/08_Oxy...razing_Set.pdf Plumber mate of mine uses these now as he doesn't use a great deal of oxy/accet, therefore he doesnt' hace to rent bottles any more, just buys disposables, great for small jobs, says it gets just as hot as his big set. Just a thought

It doen not appear to cut but. Only heating and soldering.

Talking to a bloke with a contract to rip up our Rail track the other day.
He hires by the day from BOC. Anyone heard of this?
Gets his bottle, goes home , swaps code tabs to spare bottle, takes empty spare bottle back next day. Only pays rent for one day and keeps him going for a month or so.

If anyone is into brazing and welding with oxy, this is easily the best blowpipe/torch I've ever used.

Model 15-3 | The Harris Products Group

Control is brilliant, welding steel is almost TIG like, tricky brazing jobs are much easier than all the old blowpipes I've used, and I use less gas than when using the old Cigweld torch I used to use too.
