    Ute Trays (not tubs)

    Hi Gents and Ladies,

Does anyone know if there are ADRs or VSBs applying to after market ute tray specs?

And, are there any rules specifically relating to overhang aft of the rear axle and overall width?

Perhaps is it some ratio relating to wheelbase?

Anyhow, if someone could point me in the direction of finding out something definite I would appreciate it.

(Obviously too much overhang would be disastrous for handling if it was improperly loaded and I'm guessing that there may be a safety issue for following vehicles in regard to potential rear end collisions)

    Hi,
Tas is 60% of the wheelbase length is the allowed max distance behind the rear axle.

Not sure on overall width, but 6ft wide x 8ft is a standard size, on a 130 you can get another 40cm in length if you want it, but 9ft is about as far as I would go.
    cheers

A tray manufacturer once told me 1500mm past rear axel centre is max legal distance.
Unfortunately that is all I can remember. We were talking twin cab trays in Qld.
