I rang the Castrol distributor out of the Yellow Pages up here and he referred me to Reliance (BP) said they would get it from there anyway.
Reliance wouldn't give a price over the phone so I had to go over there.

Thats a good price I reckon. I rang all the super crap crapper auto spares etc and all they had was stupid high 1ltr prices....even their 20ltr prices were based of same! Then I rang Qld Diesel Spares and their's was much better, then Gibbs Truck Parts, they were about $100 a 20ltr drum cheaper the QDS! Gibbs are the Castrol agents here. So for somehere with our population and yours, your getting a good deal. I tow alot so it makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Plus I think my R380 is slowly showing signs of feeling the pain
I have been running Penrite Sin 75 (SAE 75W-90) in Diffs, gearbox and transfercase, along with Cost Effective Maintenance AW10 Antiwear at 5%. It works well, quite and smooth. Also use Penrite synthetic engine oil, and AW10, again it runs quite and smooth. The turbo spins up at lower revs with the Penrite plus CEM. So I intend to keep using it.
I note that the latest version of Penrite Sin 75 claims to be API GL-5/6 rated in US Standards.
IMO you don't need any extra additives in a fully formulated engine or gear oil as it can upset the balance of the finely tuned existing additive package ;)

Well the Penrite Sin Manual Trans is certainly no worse than anything else I've tried.
I have been running Nulon Smooth Shift 75/85 fully synthetic for a few years (at 30$ a litre) and the Penrite product is at least as good for shifting if not slightly better so at less than half the price I would say pretty good value (so far:angel:).

After a couple of weeks using Syntrans for the first time, I can say that the shifting has been drastically improved, however I seem to have developed a gear whine at high road speeds (~100 km/h), regardless of whether in 4th or 5th. I'm not totally certain it's the gearbox, but the gearbox oil is the only thing I've changed. I've checked all other fluid levels and they are fine (and all less than 4000km old anyway).

I used Penrite Sin Manual Trans in my Jeep for a while and had absolutley zero problems with it....
For all you who have crunchy 1sts and 2nds when cold try adding Nulon G70 if you can get it, seriously made the world of difference to my Jeep when I had it.....
i've clocked up 200k in my d2 2001 and the transfer case was whining more than the radio, i had castrol in it and changed to nulon75/85 and put in a tube of g70, that cut the noise level down a lot. I emailed the german liquid moly company in germany and asked them about their mos2 friction modifier for the t/case and the tech people said it's ok. I added that to the mix and the difference was QUIET- it cut the noise down so i didnt need the radio on at all.! I realise at some time in the future i;ll have to have the case rebuilt but i kid you not that moly stuff in the box works a treat. bought me some time, and savings. by the way the guy who designed where to put the filler hole in the t/case needs to be taken out and whipped.
