Looking at the van it looks like the wheels are pretty well in the middle, you might have to be careful how you pack it. Keep some weight forward of the axle.
In my 99 S1 diesel Disco I get 12 lts per 100 km towing my 17 ft poptop at 90-100 km.

nose cone on the trailer, deflector wing on the top of the rangie AND a set of vortex starters on the side and top of the trailer.
Dont forget to plate the A frame to try and get some more control of the vortex between the rangie and the trailer.
Bluetack, fishing line, cardboard, styrofoam and a long skinny garage will give you a lot of answers

We could quite comfortably cruise at 100kph, and even higher on a flat road. Though a few semi's, or the slightest hill would slow it down quickly.
CraigE, you Dender would be a diesel? The OP has a 3.5, which will drink like a fish when pushed, and his figures are pretty much normal. In S.A. last year we did a very VERY soft sand run (around 5000rpm the whole time), and I used around 45-50 litres per 100km.
A td4 would be better though, or yes, make it a pop top. You would hardly know it was there if it was.

Perhaps you should look at putting some anti drag tabs on the rear sides and top of the trailer.
It should cut down drag by 3-5% or so.

I was able to get some from Sydney so maybe spend a bit of time googling if interested.
I must report that I felt no difference when I put them on my RRC and could see no difference in fuel economy, but the shape is not as good for tabs as the rear of your trailer.
