Thread: 91 Disco 1 Steering box seals

Not sure which seals to buy for power assisted boxs input and output shafts. Any pictures anybody?

As with many LR parts, and in particular power steering, the seals are not exactly off-the-shelf items. ( Power steering places can get a little jealous when you ask for a seal instead of a rebuild). The steering box in your Disco is an Adwest 4 bolt - there being 4 bolts in the top cover. Google that and Disco power steering and you'll find plenty of info and pics. Officially, the kit is STC2848, but vendors use that number to describe a partial kit and a full kit. Partial is generally just the parts for replacing the output seal. If you box is leaking from the input (top), you'll need the full kit. Replacing both seals in situ is a little finicky but do-able. Roughly $100 on evilbay.
