    Question D2 Wet Passenger Footwell

My V8 D2 has aleak when it rains in the passenger footwell. I have read that this is caused from aircon pipes goin through the fire wall. If anyone has any info on on this and possibly a tutorial it would be greatly appreciated as iwould like to give it a go myself (save some dollars). I also recently took the veichle in for some repairs and the fellas could not connect to computer. After talking to them about the leak they told me this could be that problem also. I was told that the water may have got into a connection in wiring harness in the vicinity of the leak and is causing problems. Any ideas on this ?? My first poblem is Rego (three amigo's) I cant fix them without the connection of a computer and it appears the root cause is the water leaking in when it rains.

The drain holes at each end of the plennum (area below the wiper arms) may be blocked and water is entering through the air inlet on the passenger side above the fan housing.

First fix is some garden hose over the top of the chassis and up the drains. That'll fix the XYZ switch failure due to passenger side drips and the tailshaft issues on the drivers side.

From there, sunrooves if fitted, has it had a new screen recently? Mine did and was still wet. Spent a month at the fitters only to be asked why it was gone. When someone was told why it was bought to my attention that one of the kids spilt a drink and it was thought better to be brought back cleaned though wet. A certain screen fitter wasn't happy.

Thanks gazk, That is the area where the water is coming from it is driping down from under the dash. When i pour water on the black plastic trim/tray below the wind screen i have no leak but when i pour water down the winscreen water runs inside the veichle and drips down from under the dash on the passenger side.

I had something similar happen to my d2.

The water runs in between the black plastic tray (plenum) and the windscreen, and runs around the air inlet for the cooling system which is located in behind the plenum. The problem is that the foam gasket between the inlet and body breaks down and water leaks into the passenger foot well.

I solved it by pulling off the plenum (not really recommended as this entails removing the a-pillar trims and you really don't want to go there) and running a bead of sikaflex around where the inlet meets the body. You should only need to do the right-hand side and bottom edges of the inlet (when looking to the rear of the vehicle) as this is where the water seems to run.

The water unlikely to do much to the ECU's. They are all mounted well away from the firewall, and the plugs face downwards.

    cheers
    Paul
