    Transfer Nut size LT230

    Hi all,

I need some help please from any of the service professionals or home servicers for that matter. I'm away from home at the moment and Im in the process of rebuilding a Discovery TC for fitting into my Defender. Unfortunately i'm not able to measure up the parts that I have. Now I found a little tool store that sells a bit of everything and a lot of nothing. My question is this:- Could someone please tell me the size across the flats of the TC bearing retaining nut, #13 in the repair manual diagram with special tool Part# LRT-41-007. Also, from memory the hub nuts are 52mm. Could someone please confirm that for me. And just to be a pain in the backside, could you please give me the sizes in metric and imperial for both nuts.
All help as always greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, Nino

    Hub nut size - imperial

    Hi Nino,

Can only help with the hub nut size - it is a 2 1/16 socket.

Hard to get an exact metric conversion, as it's 52.3mm or 52.4mm.

British Offroad, on the Sunshine Coast sell these for about $20. You can also order these on line, for a similar amount plus postage.

Good luck with your other enquiries. I can't help there.

    Cheers,

    Joe

got a picture from your repair manual, not all repair manuals use the same parts diagram.

52mm for the hub nut socket which is 2+1/16th (near enough) this is also the size of the socket for the maxidrive flange seal nut.

Nino, do you mean the nut that holds the bearing on the back of the centre diff?

If so you will need a spanner, or to make something, but I can't remember the AF measurement.

Hi Blknight. I do have the manual on disc but blowed if I know how to paste it in a post. But it's the one Psimpson7 has shown. I do have a paddocks hub nut tube socket but want a 3/4 drive HD socket to fit my flange end caps. I've found this great little tool shop that looks like a junk shop but has some real cool stuff very cheap. I just picked up a metric rivnut setter with 4 screw bits for $20. They have 3/4 sockets from $5 (proto) but most are imperial.so I need the imperial sizes. Also had these really large crows feet that would be great for the TC bearing nut,but also imperial.

Hi all. Sorry fellers, it's in Tuscan Arizona. I'm here for a few months with work. That's probably why it's mostly imperial sizes.
