If you disconnect or blank out the EGR in the Puma the airflow sensor on the EGR valve registers a fault and worst case puts the engine into limp mode. It can be partially blanked but not fully or mapped closed. Unfortunately not as simple as the Td5

I have a couple of BAS re-maps, both have EGR programmed shut. There is no noise what so ever, even after switching off when either of those two maps are in.
The third map is the factory map. With this map installed the EGR noise returns. So I don't think that the self cleaning cycle operates with EGR programmed shut, at least with BAS.
