So the weekend just gone was spent changing the stub axle seal so I don't have oil coming out the dust cap anymore... DONE. :) This evening I had SWMBO rock the steering wheel while I laid underneath with a torch... (Particularly dangerous because she doesn't have her license. :p )
Firstly, I just want to make sure I understand which part is which...
Panhard rod = In front of axle, body to axle.
Drag link = In front of axle, steering box arm to axle.
Track rod = Behind axle, wheel to wheel with steering damper to axle.
Assuming I've got that right, the results of tests were (in order of worst to best):
Panhard rod bush at axle end - dead. So much movement it was making a clunk sound! :o
Drag link bushes had a very small amount of movement, but might have just been rubber flexing.
Track rod bushes similar to drag link. Maybe a little movement, but could be just flex.
So tomorrow I'm going to order some new bushes.
Is there a bush at both ends of the Panhard I should be changing? Or only axle end?
Drag link bushes. Ask for 1 for each end?
Do I need a wheel alignment for just Panhard? Or only if I do the drag link?
And lastly, what will I need to change these myself?
Should I get one of these?
