I have been dreaming of the day i would own a defender/puma and after much conflict with hand brake i purchased a 2.4 puma and to my horror it broke down 120klm down the road from where i bought it. which turned out to be the vac pump seal. since then the gear shift has started to rattle in 6th gear hopefully its just the linkages any clues?. the remotes for the alarm have both gone flat. one of the tyres has bubbled out the wall, the engine seams to have a ticking sound which is im told just the poor fuel we have in australia. and this is in the first two weeks of owning the *&%#$% but as i already love the **** box with a passion i will persist to remedy the problems and forge forward. can anyone tell me how many amps the alternator/generator pumps out in standard form?
Hi J.P. - this may not be the thread for your questions! If you start up a new thread with an appropriate title you'll probably get more feedback....
Cheers

This list is very handy. I wish I had access in June 2012! I was in outback Qld which is Toyota/Nissan country and had an airbag develope a leak and dropped the vehicle on the drivers side. Google did not help so I phoned Canberra Motor Works and was told I could fix it myself no problem. They posted two new airbags to the nearby post office, gave me telephone advice and got me underway. Very helpful people.

Can I do a quick shout out to Sovereign Britparts 80 King William St Kent Town. I walked in there looking for wheel bearings for my disco and was instantly on a first name basis. They knew what they were talking about and i was offered a personal email address in case I had queries about parts after hours. My god I love this car and the people that come with it. :-)
Have been travelling Tasmania and needed assistance to a D2 1999. Followed the thread to Justin Cooper at Kingston and what a marvelous and knowledgeable person he was. Was busy but made sure my journey was not interrupted for long. Parts available and immediate response. Put my needs first and would throughly recommend his business to anyone with a L/Rover in Tasmainia.
Had a similar experience with a trip in North Qld last year. Land Rover spares Mackay service and response to my needs was amazing and worked overtime to get me back on the road.
Some of these independent Land Rover specialists deserve more praise as they not only do their job well but are communicative and give value for money.
Thanks Guys.
Thanks for this, just another bit of ammo for talking my parents into getting a discovery instead of a toyo prado!!
Yes, JC is THE BEST!!! He has looked after my Classic Rangey for some years, and recently gave my latest, '96 Disco tdi a thorough going over. Not only an exceptional expert on all things LR, but a hellofa nice bloke :BigThumb:
Since returning to live in regional Victoria, asides from Ritters, who I've always used for parts, I found a Service Centre at Romsey, I can also recommend. They are very thorough. The wife of original owner runs the show since he passed away recently, and his long time offsider Daniel is now in charge of the workshop, assisted by James & Tim; all seem well across LR's.
Can we add theme to the list too?
