No problems with the diaphragm and only serviced by a Ford dealer (not that I put much faith in that).
The original fluid had bits floating in it, I flushed and filled with Super Dot4 then when checked a couple of years later it had the bits floating in it again and the gunk shown in the picture above.
The floaties are soft, almost as if the fluid is breaking down.

I'll check again this weekend, it was only about 6 months ago I changed the fluid.

Just googled and found that Toyota recommend Dot 3 and not Dot 4 for their vehicles, especially for the Land Cruiser ? I'm not sure what the problems are......

The scum around the edge of the fluid is very common and of no real concern but the lumps are a bit of a worry I would say the fluid is breaking down IMO the fluid should be changed every 12 months.

As for the dot3 in tojo,s and a lot of jap stuff dot4 swells the seals even tho its ment to be backwards compatible how ever we use dot4 with out problems in conventional master cylinders.

Excluding Toyota LC pajero and anything else where the abs unit and master are in the one unit these also have no vacuume booster and use a pump and accumulator all in the one unit dot4 kills these units in short order so dot3 only in those and the last one we priced from Toyota was about $2000 clams from memory so an expensive mistake to make. Note some rrc have a similar unit made by Wabco Is been so long since I have seen one I can't remember what fluid they take so consult the manual

Think I'll try it in the trailers first. If I replace the slave cylinders and hoses in the Inter, I might put it in that.
