I'm quite happy fanging around with the CDL open, and at silly speeds well above the posted limit.

I can get the car pointed far better on most dirt surfaces without the CDL locked.

Both. Mostly Prado, Hilux, Triton, Pajero.

Just remembering my 97 Rodeo. When driving down dirt roads over 60km/h it used to wag the back end when driving in a straight line in 2wd.
Haven't experienced that in the Hiluxs though.

4wd systems will help mask bad suspension design....to a degree. A stock height defender will handle heaps better than a lifted one, no matter how good the springs and shocks. A 130 will handle better at speed, long straights and sweeping corners than a 90.

Like I said, and Rick has pointed out, its personal feel. Regarding the technical side of the T/case, having it locked at 80+km/hr may or may not be ok for it. Considering these things run bloody hot, and if driving on corrugated roads, good chance your doing that in heat also.........

Considering part time systems don't have a center diff, you can't compare them apple's to apple's. Unless you can be sure of enough traction loss, I personally would not lock at high speeds.

I lock CDL as soon as I step off the black stuff and keep it as such even when driving over 60kmh. On gravel roads, dropping tyre pressures will also help to smooth the ride.

No issues, whether in my previous 110 DC, D2 and now in the Puma.

The CDL is there for a reason, use it :angel:
