Sounds much more likely to be a valve train issue rather than a slipped liner, considering you have just done the cam etc and it has not been overheated.

Yeah im starting to think that as well.From what ive read and other peoples experience its starting to sound more like a valve train issue.I would rather it be that then a slipped liner.I will probably take the rocker cover off tomorrow and go from there.Quote:

Im about to start taking off the rocker cover soon to see if it is a valve train issue.Going by the oil left on the 2 plugs would the valve train issue cause this? Theres no water in the oil and i havent lost any either.

You only need one rocker shaft bolt to strip or break and it'll affect both end cylinders.

Well i finally got to taking the rocker cover off.It was a bit annoying with LPG injection lines everyhwere and all the other stuff to go with it.I was expecting to find a stripped bolt of some sort but couldnt find anything.I took some pictures on my phone just to show you how it all looked.There not the best quality but it may help.I couldnt find anything from looking but then again i dont know exactly what to look for.Nothing seemed out of place and everything looked tight still.

Did you put a spanner on all 4 rocker shaft bolts to check? Rotate the engine and see that all rockers move, and that with each valve closed the pushrod should just spin between your fingers without moving up and down. With both valves closed on each cylinder and the spark plugs removed, you should be able to apply a piece of rubber heater hose to the plug hole, blow in that cylinder and the air pressure should not gush out of an adjacent cylinder. You should feel back pressure as you try to blow air into the cylinder.
You will need a 24mm or 15/16 socket to turn the crankshaft.
I havent really had a chance to do any tests on it but i checked to see if any of the rocker shaft bolts were loose and they were all tight.I'll try and do the heater hose test into the cylinders during the week.Its not looking good.:(

There are lots of things that may cause a cylinder to drop out.
Plugs, plug leads, injector, steel pad off rocker, stuck valve.
However seeing you have the rocker cover off, go a bit further and remove the inlet manifold and valley gasket and have a look at the camshaft. You may find a lobe has disappeared.

I'm more worried about the noise it was making and what it could be.The cam has only done about 4000 km and ran perfectly prior to this.
