    A few Provent questions

    Hi all

I am thinking of fitting a Provent to my Defender 130 300Tdi. I have a bit of oil mist in the interpipes

I have re-read all the threads on AULRO and gathered a lot of info.

One thing that worries me is the diameter of the existing hole in the tappet cover (where the original breather fits) compared to the pipe fitting on the Provent.

Is it best to modify the tappet cover and weld on a 25mm pipe fitting to match the fitting on the Provent? (Roverrescure did this mod)

Will this have any effect on crankcase pressure?

    Thank you

I welded a 25mm fitting to the rocker cover, but had to step the silicone down to 1/2 inch as I could not get the 25mm hose to route to the provent without fouling on the ac pump.
If I was to do it again I would probably use a 3/4 fitting.

    Still seems to work ok.

I used steel threaded T pieces that I screwed over the hose connectors on the provent. A very tight fit and they have not come loose during the past 20k's and I have been doing some tough tracks. Each T fitting has a hose connector screwed into it (1/4" I believe?) that runs to my valve covers and back to the inlet. I have the rover V8 so I needed two in en two out. I used the same diameter tubing as was already on the egine and I have not noticed any problems with the smaller diameter tubing in relation to the provent, the unit just works as advertised Since you have a single connection no doubt you would not need the T fitting but just a single threaded fitting.

    Cheers,
    -P
