    LT95 Gearing for the Mongol

I am planning the buildup of my Mongol project. She is a 1984 110 V8 Land Rover with t he LT95 gearbox, Salisbury rear diff, standard front etc.

I will be running a P76 Engine with heads off a 2001 V8 Disco D2. I will also be running the Thor manifold and Megasquirt EFI for both fuel and lpg injection. Spark control will be with Ford EDIS wasted spark coilpacks.

It will be a steel trayback with a light (possibly aluminium) cage on the back with a canvas cover and zips.

It will have a Thomas PTO winch up front which I also have.

I will be running 235/85R16 tyres on Disco 1 rims which I may have inversed.

My question is which is a good rev range to have the truck sitting on at 100km/h and 110km/h. I will tune the beast for economy and lean it right out at that speed which is all possible.

The LT95 had various gearset ratios for the transfer case and the last of the 4 speed range rovers had a .998:1 high range ratio. This would make it sit on about 2200rpm at 100km/h. Too little? Just right? Anyone done this before?

Would be great to hear what people are doing. Im not even sure what a V8 disco 1 or 2 or even a RR sits on at 100 and 110...

Rich do you intend to do any towing?
I run a similar setup although your engine will produce more torque than mine, I currently use 1.336:1 Ratios in the LT95 and have found it great if I want to tow but a bit of a stress to drive a thousand kays in a day.

This will help Ashcroft Transmissions - Ratio Calculator

1.113 I think is a good compromise for mine but with your extra torque you could go higher

    Djam1,

Thanks for your input. I have been using that ratio calculator, a great little app from the ashcroft people. I'd like it to be able to do both, is yours highly geared in first? Any issues towing a heavy load from a complete stop up an incline. The 1.113 could be the best bet.

Mine is almost too low in first high I can usually take off in second.
It is only a high compression 3.5 but it barely needs low range.
