    painting wheel side arches

2003 d2 TD5, the paint on the side wheel arches are either fading or peeling off. I was wondering whats the best way of painting them.

I painted mine, but my Defender is a Tdi so they were bare, black plastic to start with, just faded. I'd hazard a guess being a TD5 your's are body colour (?). It would be much easier to remove the arch by popping out the plastic clips than leaving then on and having to mask up around them. I would personally strip all the old paint right off, rough up the surface a little with about 200 grit sandpaper and paint them black so that when they scratch again it's black on black so won't be as noticeable. I used Septone Bumper Black which is designed for flexible plastic components.

    My D2 is silver color.
I thought side arches are glued to the frame, thats why removing is not an option but I will double check.
Will the same paint work for plastic seals? they are also showing signs of fading.

Oh dear . I'm so sorry janousek. I missed the "D2" bit. I'm not sure how they come of a Discovery. I was referring to Defender.
