Actually looking at your first picture in post #1 that is likely a P38/D2 ring gear assembly, there are crank angle sensors on the back. It looks nothing like the correct setup as in post #4. The distance between the ring gear plate and the drive plate is much too small in the pic in post #1.

Interesting. The flex plate that I have can only go on one way due to the way it is bolted on to the crank with bolts that require a 3/8th hex bit that fit into a countersunk hole in the plate.

This is leaning more towards me having the wrong plate.

Have taken the plate off this arvo and will pop into MR auto tomorrow and have a chat with them.

    Problem Solved

Dropped into MR yesterday and left the plate with them so that they could check things out. Looks like it was the wrong plate.

Picked up the right bits this morning and did a dummy fit up. Nothings been loctited or done up to correct torque yet.

    Looks like this

Much better, did the measurement from plate to the block and it is now 46mm, which is close enough because even though ashcrofts say 51mm when fitting the torque converter to the trans, according to warren at MR, you don't want it sitting all the way down when actually fitted, you need it to come forward a few mm to avoid damaging the oil pump drive.

Wiil have to do a temporary connection for the starter next to make sure it will engage properly, but it looks about right.

Can't speak highly enough of the help MR auto gave me with this, their customer service is first class.

Do you still have the pics of this? photofkit etc... I am trying to work out if these are the same thing....

    or this?

I am looking to understand if the flexplate on RRC (oct 91) mounts in exactly the same way. i.e. is the mounting depth on these engines the same for the ZF4hp22

If anyone has the info, I'd appreciate it. Better yet, more pics of flexplates & ring-gears/spacers etc so I can determine if they are the same on all RRC 3.9 v8's.

    TIA
Roads?.. Where we're going, we don't need roads...
