Why do Landrover UJ's flog out ??

You can get two types of GKN TVC100010
look the same externally but the rubbish one has 16mm journals (about $20.00) & the HD type has 18.2mm journals - they are the type to get ($57.00 Karcraft) and for all intents & purposes are the same as the one in the Landrover box, makes the empty cardboard box worth over $40.00

The no-name "England" branded one I got in the earlier photo also has 18.2mm journals but I wont be using it.

My understanding is that the 'small' journal ones are standard 1300 Spicer dimensions, the larger journal use 1310 Spicer journal and needle roller length dimension in the 1300 cross dimension, so for all intents and purposes you have a 1310 strength uni with the smoothness that the smaller cross gives.

At a guess this may have been a Jaguar thing for extra driveline smoothness and Land Rover (was told to ??) pick up the bit out of the common parts bin to get costs down ?
