Id say pistons out of shape and melty....
bugger.
No it turns over. When we put it back together it was clearly approaching its life. #4 exhaust valve seat was in poor shape. Possibly it just gave up.....too much to speculate on for this poor old thing.
I doubt Mike will care to be bothered to find out for now.......
Will keep you posted.
Looks like a tow to my place sorted.
Truck southward still to be sorted.
Cheers
Right... where's the petrol and the matches???

So are we back to the putting it on a truck idea??
Yep

Well, back in Alice after my 12km adventure this morning...
Strangy has pretty much summed it up - took engine completely apart, freed up the rings, pistons felt much snugger in the bore, No. 4 exhaust valve not looking too healthy but should have been fine for a while at least. Reassembled when parts finally came in, and everything felt okay. Took her for a test run yesterday evening, performance was good and everything felt like she was a runner.
Today we did what we needed to do round town, everything felt okay so headed off. About 12 clicks out we lost power, started getting engine knock, engine failed and coasted to a halt.
12km, we never went above 70kph, no sudden acceleration, heavy load on the engine or anything like that, oil pressure and water temp were all good, but she's quite literally boiling the oil in the engine, by the sounds of it.
That sounds like a rebore....
Did you put new rings and bearings in too?
