    sliders quiery???

hi all, its been a while since i've been on but my quiery is how much of a shock can the sill's on a d2 take before they will crumple or bend.i've been having an argument with a mate at work about sliders on my d2, if i have say a 6mm plate the length of the inside of the sill and welded to say 2.5mm plate on the front side and bolted through all the holes in the sill would that be stronger than say plate bolted to the 2 out riggers or plates around the chassie and pipe then welded to the slider.which is more likly to be the stronger? hope this isnt to confusing ,tony

I dare say the plate would bend...
Thought about plate myself as a cheaper alternative to sliders...
My RRC has sliders I installed a while back, and they are the ducks nuts for saving body/undercarriage damage.

Do your sliders bolt of the chassis or off the body?

There are a few DIY slider threads in the d2 forum. Most of them seem to wrap around the sill in a u shape. That should add strength to the sill box section than just bolting to the outside face

    Cheers

thats what these new ones will do, but is it still possible to bend the sill with that U shape.

I think there were a few comments that the sill mounting was best option because you have to cantilever chassis mounted rails off the out riggers and they tend to flex and bend.
