1997 discovery key fob not working
I have recently bought a 1997 discovery. V8 petrol model. Yesterday it wouldn't start & it appears it is due to the battery going flat or dying.
I was able to jump start the car & presently have the battery on charge.
Now the key fob is not working.
It is a two button key fob (rectangular in shape).
I replaced the fob internal battery with a new one. Still not working.
Will re-charging or replacing the car battery fix this problem?
Does the key fob need re-programming if the battery dies?
Is this something I can do myself?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Sometimes the keyfob will lose its rolling code, when combined with a flat vehicle battery.
It will require resynchronising if you have tried pressing the button/s 4 or 5 times in quick succession and it still does nothing.
This is a job for Autologic, Rovacom or similar diagnostic devices.

Key fob not working
Ok I have re-charged the battery overnight & the car starts.
I still am unable to use the key fob.
Surely I don't have to take it to a dealer for re-programming every time I get a flat battery or my battery needs replacing.
I am also now unable to lock the car using the key in the drivers door.
I have read some information on other website that indicates a sequence of events to re-program it, such as pushing the fob button 4 times & unlocking the door using the key but they didn't work. I am not sure if they were for this model.
Is there a correct sequence for this model or is the only option the dealer & a subsequent cost?
I might have a short lived experience of owning a land rover if it is going to cost me extra each time the battery goes flat.
