    Assisted clutch

Is it possible to have the clutch on a 110 vacuum assisted? My wife is 5'2" and slight of build and finds the standard clutch extremely difficult. Also I am about to have my left knee replaced so any assistance for me would be good too! Jim

Internet's pretty bad here, so can't confirm this for you, but I think there's a company called RedBooster that manufacture vacuum assisted clutch assemblies for Defenders. RedBooster.com Land Rover Defender Easy Clutch Solution or something similar, if I recall correctly.

I don't have any suggestions on the vacuum assist conversion BUT
    Perhaps a suggestion or two.

Do you know that NA spec Defenders had an "easy clutch"!
Basically the pedal was pivoted/hinged in the middle!
The hinge bit had a hair spring wrapped around the pivot. I did conversion for a smallish lady customer who bought a '93 Def 90 who couldn't operate the clutch very well. She was happy with the result.

I have also converted an early ex UK mid eighties Defender to automatic box for a soldier that lost a leg in Ghan. He was very attached to his Landrover so he thought it worth the expense. Worth a thought or two.

Best of luck with your operation and Merry Christmas

Could one fit a brake vacuum booster, e.g., PBR VH44 - BOOSTER TYPES

Or a Nissan Patrol boosted clutch master cylinder. This one is on Gumtree for $100. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sunsh...ter/1009271110

Beat me to it... Nissan Patrols had them years ago... Worked well, I know of one bloke at work who "lost" his to SWMBO. He ended up in the shopping trolley...

Hino trucks & busses often have them.

Did a bit more looking at the RedBooster setup, and theres a very good thread on LR4x4 about the setup:

Redbooster clutch servo - Page 2 - Defender Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

According to the OP, "to be honest it's a bit strange, does it do the job yes, I can push the pedal down with one finger but it just feels weird, it feels like the clutch has failed when I stamp on the pedal and it goes to the floor it is a little disconcerting!!"

Sounds like it'd be a good setup for someone who's just had knee surgery...
