    Defender 130 tyre pressure

    I have recently replaced the original Michelins on my 2008 Defender 130 with LT235/85R16 Coopers Discoverer STT tubeless tyres on tubeless rims.
    The supplier suggested 35psi front, 35psi rear but this seems a bit low. I have inflated them to 40psi front, 50 psi rear. This feels better. I will deflate them off-road but would welcome advice for on-road pressures.
    The Michelins ran at the vehicle spec of 45psi front, 65 psi rear. They were still good at 94,000km, but I couldn't find any in Australia and decided to go tubless.

    What size is That in the old school? My 750.16 tyres 40 front 35 rear un loaded on my one ten even at 40 tho the fronts look flat

    Pressures all depend on the tyre's construction, ie. plies in the tread area and sidewall construction.

    I've only run 255/85's for the last eight years or so, but when running BFG's I only used 35psi all round (dropping down to 26psi or so on gravel) and when I went to Maxxis 762's I had to up the pressures to 40psi all round.
    The 130 mostly weighs around 3000kg over the weighbridge.

    Running XZL's at the tyre placard pressure is nuts, the rear end would be skipping all over the road.

    I run 35 in the fronts and 40 in the rear most times.
    When carrying big loads I've had to go to 75Psi in the rear.
    My Defenders Handbook says 75Psi on and off road!
    I'm running Maxxis 762's which are a 10 ply Tyre.

    I am not sure if it was Juddy or Hymie who can supply Michelin XZL's. It is probably a bit late now anyway unless I can off-load the Coopers.

    Bridgestone 235/85/16 MT on standard 6.5" rims

    Run about 44 most of the time drop them to 40 for comfort with family and up to 75 rear with 1.3 t of pavers in the back.

    Up and down depending on where, how fast and what load and with who.

    Thanks to all for advice on tyre pressure. Consensus seems to be "use your common sense" and "to suit the situation ". Sounds good to me.
