    110tdi Lunging on lock

    G'day,

    I've got a 1990 110tdi, and since i've had it it seems to have a problem turning on full lock in either direction.
    When going forward it "lunges" or "jolts" forward. Was wondering if anyone has had the same problem, and what can i do about it?

    Cheers.

    G'day Mate.
    Three possibilities that I can think of;
    You have big chunky tyres and they 'grab-release-grab'
    The Centre Diff Lock (cdl) is engaged
    You have worn suspension bushes and the load up then slip rapidly changing your front suspension geometry.
    Hope this helps.
    Dave.
    Cheers, BDave.

    The other thing I thought of is,are your tyres hitting the front radius arms on full lock? If they are,this can give this sensation

    Does it have a Detroit locker in the rear?
    Mine does what you are describing and I don't recall it before I fitted the Detroit.

    If yours is only doing it since you fitted the Detroit,I would suggest you have it checked,because it shouldn't do it.Mine doesn't

    The Detroit is fine - I check it fairly regularly as I'm still running standard axles and half expecting to find one popped.
    Mine may well be be nothing to do with the Detroit - could even be a mini bunny-hop from tight turns at idle with the clutch out. (blame it on the Isuzu - just doesn't want to stall )

    I get that too since the Detroit was installed. Wayne and I reckon mine is too tight as it also twangs like a... twangy thing... when it finally decides to ratchet. I haven't taken the cover off to look inside since though.

    Still got the standard sized whells and all terrain tyres. I dont think it had a detroit in it, i've not fitted one. How do i check if it has one?
    Not sure about the centre diff lock, the light if off when the leaver is dissengaged? It kinda feels like something is winding up then releasing????

    My money would be on the simple solutions...

    * Steering stops need adjusting (rubbing on radius arms).
    * CDL on.
