Lift pump for Puma Tdci

All the horror stiries have come from non TDCi owners,one in particular.JC,I crossed from Newman to Alice Springs in mine during the heat wave,the temps were over 50 degree's C,so hot in fact that the Goodyear MTR's fell apart,one blew out the side wall and the other four suffered nine punctures between them and three of the four had stripped the rubber so the steel belts were showing through when I arrived at the Alice and none held air so a set of BF A/T's replaced them.The MTR's had only done 40K and I'll never buy them ever,thats the least amount of K's I've ever got out of a set of tyres.The TDCi like my Tdi has after that trip,the hardest I've ever done has my complete faith,the Tallawana had not one single entry in the Georgia bore log for 12 months before I arrived,I cannot put into words how hot it was and all the TDCi faults,weak diff,engine priming,too may electrics etc are a load of crap,the TDCi is the best model Defender yet. I assume I am the one you are talking of. I'm glad your has been so trouble free.

Why are you running out of fuel or having fuel related problems?.You want to have a way of priming the fuel system,it's easy,don't run out of fuel. Pat

What I did was remove the breather hose from the tank and using a length of nylon tube take the breather foward and up to the firewall. Place the breather valve at the end of the tube. When you wish to bleed the system just blow a little bit of air down the tube and the valve will prevent the air from escaping. The small amount of air pressure with force the fuel through the lines bleeding the system. Make sure the filler cap is on.
This also puts you tank breather up out the way of water ect.

Pat I haven't run out of fuel. I don't ever plan on running out of fuel. The dealer told me running the pump dry is not a good thing for them. So with a few stories on here with priming issues, and what the dealer has said I thought I'd have a go at eliminating a potential problem.
I am also fitting a water bowl and water sensor to make an effort to detect or stop water on the rare case it may conteminate fuel.
I'm sorry you don't like my comments on Tdci's, but all I am doing is eliminating the vehicles weak spots so when I go abroad with it I enjoy myself more. As I said, I am happy yours has been so reliable.

How about fixing two issue's by fitting an extra tank?,I've done that with mine and fitted a transfer pump from the sill tank through a water trap/filter to the main tank,I fill the sill and transfer over that way I increase the crappy range and filter the fuel together.With the 130 you can get a poly tank that fits against the headboard of the tray,for say $500 you can get another 100ltres capacity with pump,filter and you only loose about 200mm of tray length.
