    Maxidrive FTC254 collar.

I am in the process of replacing a front stub axle on my 1999 110 Defender. It has been fitted with a Maxidrive locker and County CV's,meaning it has the needle roller bearing replaced with the earlier bronze bush.Ordered the stub axle and bush from Rovercraft no worries, but noticed on the original that there is also a bronze collar[with scallops every 15mins on its circumference].Is this part number FTC254,the impression I got from the Rovercraft site was that it goes on the inner axle?Should it have been fitted with the scallops facing the stub axle........would make it easier to remove?

The bush in the stub axle should be FRC4319.

    Wayne,
The vehicle is a 1999 Defender, the FRC4319 bronze bush I believe, is for the County with the earlier stub axles.Mine has the later stub axles [with a single lock nut retaining the wheel bearings]FTC3154 so the bush I am using will be Maxidrive? part number HTE4744 it matches the new stub with the County CV.Referring to the photo in my first post, on the old stub axle there is a bronze coloured collar on the outside of the housing in which bronze bush
HTE4744 sits. This collar is I think bronze, somewhat discoloured, whereas I see FTC254 appears to be steel.Although genuine LR would have us believe it is gold!

Ok,I had a closer look at the pics and think you may need to call Hi Tough and ask them what they do to modify the later hubs,as the bush may be specially machined. It would have been better to fit the early stubs with the wide spaced bearings.
I do have a Maxi Drive booklet around here from when I had one. Will see if there is a parts list in it.

My Maxi book says to use a MD4774 bush when fitting AEU2522 CV's to a disc brake all round 110/130. Obviously that's a Maxi Drive pt. # so Barry/Hi Tough or MR should be able to help ?

Bear in mind Paula sent me this at the beginning of '02, so whether there is any difference in stubs between a 300Tdi and TD5 ??

Anthony at Coffs Harbour 4WD explained all.The part I am after is a thrust washer, hence the scallops to allow oil flow, not that it seemed to have done much 'thrusting' only $15..so all is well. Thanks LowRanger and rick130.
Photo shows a clearer view of the part I was after.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm why did I think you were after the bronze bush that was inserted to take the place of the needle rollers in the stub assembly

OK,for anyone wishing to fit the later stub axle FTC3154 to the AEU2522 CV joint you require the maxidrive bronze bush HTE4744 this replaces the roller bearing and LR part FTC56 the bronze thrust washer.Got there in the end.
