At the moment I have an oil pressure sender (idiot light sender), a second oil pressure sender (VDO gauge sender) and turbo oil line that all need to be connected to the engine block - 4BD1 - which only has one tapped socket for the stock idiot light sender, and also has some serious space issues in the Defender.
According to the interwebs, remote mounting the senders shouldn't be a problem, but I'd like to run it by the people here. Are there any problems with running a single oil line form the engine to a small manifold bolted nearby, and tapping the senders and turbo oil line into the manifold, i.e.
engine -> remote manifold -> sender1/sender2/turbo oil line
Will the senders read as they would if connected directly to the engine, or will there be a pressure drop??
Sorry to but in on your conversation. Im new to this??? Please advise me how to initiate a discussion or seek advice. For your interest I have ordered a new Defender Hard Top 110. Mike, yes it is quite common, run the main oil line (Prefferably steel braided etc) to a manifold block there you can run various senders, like temp etc also. IIRC they are available through some performance outlets??
I got one for a RRC customer where I fitted a serpentine 3.9 to his 2 door classic. He wanted all the OE gauges working so I had to do this as there was no room down on the timing cover.

easy enough to make yourself if you need to.
a small pilot line from a hyd pressure gauge will fit the block and then its just a case of adding a correctly laid out T piece on the other end then fabbing a mounting bracket.
Depending on the filter housing on your donk theres 2 switch positions available, one in the block and one in the filter housing.

Watching this with interest. I need to install senders for oil pressure and temp in my 4BD1 but as yet have found nowhere to put them. The plug in my oil filter housing looks too close to the chassis and I've been advised by a couple of people not to use a T-piece as it may snap - then again others say it will not. I like the idea of a manifold, though I'm not sure how it would work on my engine.

It is actually very easy to construct, you can buy the alloy block with threads already tapped to suit various sender types, 1/8th bsp or 1/4 bsp threads are the most common, comes with the braided line also iirc.

Ask for Marcos, and he will need details like thread into the block, threads of all sender units, and a length of line required. He can then make it to suit.
