Sorry, I'm really not much help, but when I saw your title, my first thought was "Why? Which orifice is it stuck in?"
It's OK, I'll go now....![]()
I got a replacement dipstick and have it bent perfectly for my application but the securing nut is the wrong thread. I want to use the nut from my original dispstick but that means I have to remove and replace the olives.
How do you get the blasted things off?
Is there a way so you can get them off and re-use?

I thoight Popeye's squeeze had rocked up and refused to go.
I don't think I can be of any assistance either.
Depending on how tightly it was compressed on there in the first place, you can get them off by heating them, or putting the olive in a vice grips and turning the olive on the pipe until it loosens up and inch it off that way. reusing them however, is a no no - bring it to the local olive shop (?) and get a few replacements.
Maybe use some olive oil?
(Yes, I know, I said I'd go)
Carefully cut through with a hacksaw to remove.
Then either get someone to turn up a replacement for you or head off to a pneumatics supplier that stocks them (although I think they are probably the wrong profile).
IFS (Industrial Fittings Sales) in Noble Park carry metric & imperial olives but you might want to check the shape before cutting yours off.

It would be nice if I could re-use the one on the new dipstick - its never been used but seems to have been clamped into place to mark how deep the tube should sit in the sump. I'll have a go with heat, maybe I can get it clean off.
If not I guess I have to hunt down an 'olive store' and the correct size olive... sounds like the hard part!
Pirtek.
the application of heat and the use of a preheated vice with a set of soft jaws is your best bet if you want to reuse the existing olive.
you can use a ring spanner as a slide hammer if you can get the olive to turn but not move by clamping the pipe and not the olive.

I'll see if I can get them off clean with heat and gentle persuasion before my patience runs out and I go all out assault
