Another reason to stick with the County-Isuzu 4BD1. No Ad-blue, no DPF, no EGR, no catalyst, no electronics. Just good old fashioned quick starting and reliability.

That would also apply to 200/300TDI engines. No crap to interfere with.

Most of the reading I have done on Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) on diesels which use urea, use it at a rate of approx 5% of the fuel consumed. It is meant to convert the NOx to other products that don't result in photochemical smog. SCR results in better fuel efficiencies than EGR systems and place less load on the cooling system as you don't have to cool the exhaust gases that are recirculate in EGR systems.

Except they have rubber bands and turbochargers which are something else to fail, maintain, replace.

Yeah I know, the rubber band is the biggest PITA to change. I managed to get about 130K out of the last one and still looked newish except for the stretch in it.Turbo's, well little motors need them. Look at the current 2.0-2.2-2.4ltr motors. 140+kw and 400+nm torque. Wonder how long they will last?
    Hope mines lasts another 330k.
