Hi All,
My brother has a 1987 RRC 3.9 V8 with ZF 4 spd auto.
His wife (all her fault) parked it on the front lawn that slopes down toward front of their house over night.
Next morning gets in starts it up, puts it into gear goes clunk and nothing happens...no reverse or forward gears
Is there any way to diagnose if its the transfer box or gearbox that is the problem.
All advice appreciated.
Cheers
Baggy
double check the tcase is engagnes in hi or low, then lock the CDL.
if that does nothing, leave it in park, release the handbrake and try to push it.
if it moves its the tcase, if it doesnt its the gearbox.
of course you could have a snapped half shaft in which case it will take up drive as soon as you engage the CDL.
