    Transfer case guide stud size

    Gday I have a 2001 series 2 discovery with the TD5,

I need to replace the input shaft seal and after allready attempting this and pinching the seal I would like to make a set of Transfer case guide., Can anybody tell me what the thread sizes are for the bolts that bolt the transfer case and gear box together.

    Thanks in advance.

Take one out, take it to a spare parts place and get some bolts with same dia. and thread, and around 6" in length, cut off the heads and slot end for screwdriver, need at least 4, regards Frank.

    TIP
If you don't want to damage the seal.
Slide the seal on the gear box input shaft, then slide the transfer enough to engage the shaft into the transfer splines. you really only need about 6 inches or so room for your fingers. Then slide the seal into the transfer case, use smooth things like flat wood to seat the seal home fully to transfer.
Then just slide the rest of the transfer forward to meet gear box or Auto and bolt up

This way the seal never gets cut from splines due to an off skew transfer..
I've done it this was on a couple of Landies and too easy.
    Cheers Mario
