All things considerd a screenshot of your outputs from a nanocom or similar will allow us to pinpoint th eissue, I'm sure.
Paul, I wasn't aware there were ROW (late D2 'update') vehicles delivered to SA with no EGR etc, so that is an interesting bit of info, thanks.I was working on some EDC Tdi Disco 1 vehicles ex Japan many years ago now and they were a minefield of research to get any info on them in this country
. Why would anyone want a fly by wire Tdi with a full electronic 4HP22EH and an EGR system, CAT converter and Airflow meter
They went well, but goodness how complicated can you make a 1960's tech engine and drivetrain

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

It's tuned for power and been driven hard. Most remaps will smoke under full throttle, indeed in a recent post someone mentioned it was a good way for telling if you had a remap installed.
I guess if your benchmark is a drive to local lawn bowling club whilst staying well under the speed limit it might appear it's been driven over it's limits. However the rev limit on the Td5 is a shade under 5000rpm under power and about 5500rpm on the over-run. I know those figures might be slightly shocking to the "anything over 3000rpm is abuse" brigade.
Anyway that ain't smoke, this is maximum power tuned diesel smoke:

It seems very popular on South African LR forums to bypass the modulator rather than fix. It just makes the D2 wastegate behaviour the same as the Defender.
The modulator controls the amount of pressure that acts on wastegate so prevents the wastegate partially opening before there is an actual need to limit boost. The idea was to increase power and improve tractability in normal driving conditions.
cheers
Paul
