This may be a silly Q, Anyhoo......here goes;
I've read that air bubble/voids in the fuel system are not a good thing.
I've a Puma 110 and want to regularly drain some fuel from fuel filter to check for water.
Do I need to have engine running to drawer off fuel(eliminate air bubble from fuel removed) or is this OK without engine running?

If you open the drain with the engine running you'll suck air into the system. Pat

Bought a diesel care secondary filter, for a my15 Defender, 2 micron, water separator, hand primer pump, the bees knees I think.
But,
From what I've read the Puma comes with special ford hose clamps, which are a right bastard, without the right tool, which is????
Plus there is a risk of adding contaminants to the fuel during said exercise. But maybe I would be more diligent on my own car. Catch 22 to an extent.
I have also read about ultra fine oil filters, or are they for heavy machinery?

No, it's only 15,000 km but it's due next service, 2 years, I think
Slightly O/T, but I recommend finding the highest volume fuel outlet you can. The high flow truck stop places are best. E.g, in Sydney, the BP outlet at Kemp's Creek
turns over 50,000 litres a day. It's a small place but it is VERY cheap so the trucks love it.
No chance the fuel will become contaminated with algaes, and if the trucks are using it there's a good chance it has a good rep for cleanliness.
Don't use the car pumps at the same outlet, they are usually fed fro their own tank.
BTW, the Kemp's Creek example is just that; an example.
