That's a race car fitting by the look of it. Have a few sets in the back shed. But sorry NFS.

They look to be the same as the clips on our spine boards we use at work for spinal immobilisation and extrication. Ferno are one of the brands so if you look at their site, or check with any of the medical equipment suppliers.

I can't be definitive, but I am almost certain they are not. ADRs are quite restrictive on safety equipment, and with seatbelt wearing compulsory, I think it unlikely they will countenance being able to remove seat belts!

They're actually a fitting for the end of the webbing, on low level racing harnesses to enable them to be removed for on road use. I think the issue isn't fully about the strength of this fitting but the inability to regulate the structural fitting of the eye bolt to the vehicle.
Thanks John - these are certainly legal overseas and I got the pic off a seatbelt manufacturers site in the UK. I have folding seats in a load area and want to be able to easily remove the belts from their anchorages to protect them from damage and sun damage when not in use.
I guess I need to get a definitive answer from the authorities.
Cheers
Garry

I guess if you can get the eye bolt fittings engineered then the rest should follow as a package. Maybe find an old set up (bri-tex used to make a simple harness for adaption with a lap sash belt) using these fittings and find a sympathetic (like they exist) engineer.
Hi Garry,
Why not try one of the Authorised Seat Belt (and Child Restraints, etc) Stations to find out exactly who they deal with at NSW Roads & Maritime Services. Getting to the right R&MS technical person should be able to answer your question, particularly when you have a valid reason to detach and re-attach. Hope this helps, even though you are in the ACT.
Bob
Hmmm...
The hooked fitting is sewn onto the webbing, the hook & latch is used onto an eye bolt. At least in the kits I used to have they did.
Where would I bolt through?
