    Disc brake dramas

Took a trip up to lake Eucumbene this weekend from Canberra. On the final leg before going off road i seemed to loose power (84RRC) Quickly realize that the brakes are not releasing properly, actually its just the front O/S caliper. I cracked open the bleed nipple and some fluid spurted out and it was OK again, however it happened twice on the return trip, the same quick fix got me going. Now that Rangella is home (breath sigh of relief) what should I be doing to remedy it? Do I need to buy new calipers or pistons or is there a service kit? Advise please!!!

I would think it is more likely to be a flexible line or master cylinder issue.

If the hose is the cause then I would be replacing them all because the others probably aren't in much better condition.

The MC was overhauled just before I got it (I'm told) Thinking about it that makes sense. If its collapsing then it could act like a one way valve? Is tat a correct assumption?

I would also take a quick look at that calipers Mount/Slide pins. If these are seized or binding this could cause the caliper to bind causing excess heat & fluid expansion eventually causing this brake to bind. You release the pressure & alls good till it heats up again. Easy to check & repair. Hope she's an easy fix.

Thanks for that, but now I am in uncharted territory, I think I shall have to pull it apart tomorrow and familiarize myself with it with the wheel off! Cheap easy fix really works for me

As mentioned I would be first looking at the rubber hoses - the insides of the hoses delaminate acting as valves stopping the fluid returning when the brakes are released.
