    Remote TD5 oil filter adapter

Has anyone heard of a kit to mount the oil filter remote from the TD5 engine.
Is such a mongrel to get to and often a different brand of filter has to be used so the turbo drain has to be removed as the filter is too long to fit with the drain installed.
I have carried out mods (legal) to piston pounder aero engines to achieve the same aim. The kits comprised a machined adapter that fitted to the original filter mount, two flex hoses connected this adapter to a new filter assembly mounted remote to the engine either on the engine mount frame or the firewall.
    Thanks

I had a remote filter on a TD Rocky. It use to make a real mess when changing the standed filter. The after market filt was a Racor. It was a flat stainless steel mesh disc sandwiched between two alloy bodies, that could be washed clean. I'd do this every 5,000ks. Only thing is, it still made a mess removing the disc.
It would be a bugger of a job fitting the adopter and hoses to the Disco.

There is a remote filter mount kit that I got from American Auto Parts that takes a Ford Filter, 3/4 thread same as Landrover. I mounted the new filter on the chassis rail on the NS under the steering pump and can access from underneath. Oil just drops straight into the drain pan. I have used the ford filter, Ryco Z9, they are physically bigger without a anti drain back valve. I am useing landrover filters at the moment as I got a box at the "right " price.
This has been fitted for over 180,000k's so far and the only isuue I have had is I changed the hose that came with the kit after 20k's as it got soft from the heat of the turbo. I got some high pressure 1/2 hose from Pirtek designed for hydraulic oil and some better fittings, wrapped it in heat proof coating and no issues since. Best thing I ever did, no more motor clean downs, no more burnt hands from the turbo and if so inclined, only $10 Ryco Z9 filters.
Very easy to fit, but I took my exhaust manifold off and releived the webbing so fitting the adapter to the original filter housing was very easy.

if you remove and throw away the Td5 Aucoustic cover AND turbo shield you can easily get undo the oil filter, with two hands. I put a bag under mine then undo and drop it into the bag/ turn over & remove without spilling any oil. Nevar had any issues with aftermarket filters, no need to remove turbo pipe.

You dont need those stupid engine covers anyway, they just stop you from being able to spot any leaks before they become issues.
