Allisport performance exhaust manifold for TD5, anyone got one?

Ad in the L.R.M. mag. from Allisport touting , among other things, a performance exhaust manifold for TD5's. Any good? Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

    Hey Bob,
Is there any indication in performance gains and price?

Allisport list them on their ebay shop at £675 or $1155 at current exchange rates. The only performance claims are reduced turbo lag.

    cheers

I can't justify spending that amount of money for so little gain, I think. Bob

Yep I'm hearing ya... Talking to my good mate and Land Rover mechanic/guru,you can achieve less turbo lag by fitting a 2 3/4" or 3" mandrel bent exhaust, also quite pricey...

Allisport manifold and turbo for TD5 Defender

Have heard Allisport seems to be an answer to problems caused by repeated expansion and contraction of standard exhaust manifold when working TD5 hard as in continued towing of heavy loads up and down mountain roads.

Standard TD5 exhaust manifold seems undamaged but #4 and #5 exhaust studs are sheared and turbo housing has warped..

TD5 130 is a great vehicle, suitable for me in most other respects. Certainly not about to trade it for anything else! Anyone have helpful comments?

Drill the holes oversize for the end cylinders. This allows room for the manifold to expand/contract without breaking studs.

That's how Isuzu do it and they have no problems.
