    D1 D2 Diff.

Are D1 and D2 the same? As I am planning on changing my D2 ratio's I was going to look for some old diffs and rebuild them, and have them ready to fit, which will mean less down time for the vehicle
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Hi Dave

The Defender,Disco 1 and Disco 2 front Diffs are the same Part No.
But the Disco 2 has a different pinion flange to the tailshaft.

The Disco 1 and Disco 2 rear diffs are also the same Part No.
But the Disco 2 again has a different flange for the rubber donut
between the diff flange and the tailshaft.

Should be able to source a second hand D2 flange for less than $50 which are stronger ( so I am told )

You should be able to retro fit the flanges into either vehicle provided it matches the tailshaft flange.

Planning on doing the same thing just bought a D1 front diff to rebuild and install E Locker before fitting to the front of my Defender.
The one I pull out will be rebuilt to be installed into my Wife's D2.

    Regards

    Steve
