Can if you're really bothered by it, otherwise just let it find its own level :)
mark it where it is first thing tomorrow morning, take it for about an hours drive
mark it while hot.
if on monday morning its back on the first mark you made, theres your level.
if its a lot lower you have a problem if its only a couple of mm lower, remark it. repeat.
if it keeps dropping in very small increments most likely its your cap failed.
you have checked the condition of ALL the hoses including the secret hidden heater hose right?
Ok will do. Will post results.
I've had a good look at it from above and below and everywhere in between.....push, pulled, squeezed most hoses within easy reach although I'd be lying if I said i'd checked all 14??? (Clarkie said something like 14) hoses. Can not see any obvious leaks from any of the cooling system.
I will look closer tomorrow though. :)
I still can not get my head around the coke bottle method??? How does it work if there is not a seal between the coke bottle an the expansion tank???
This is probably a wise thing to do my car that is the same finds its own level.
I just changed the coolant and it had run for 2 years without using a drop
Hopefully yours will be the same
Yep, $2,356 all up as I got extra's & it arrived in about 4 or 5 days!! You can go on their website & do a dummy purchase to get the latest pricing. It came with bolts & a complete gasket set, sump gasket & oil pump bolt. Shipping was an amazing 155 pounds from Turner Engineering.
Best thing I ever did, I'm really enjoying driving it now..
Ok. Marked it at cold level on the tank before going for a drive yesterday morning. So after yesterday's drive I got home, open the bonnet and found some coolant leaking from the expansion tank cap. Not a spray all over the place this time though, just running out from under the cap and dripping off the bottom of the tank.
I left it and this morning did as Blknight suggested and checked the level again when cold. I didn't get my calipers out but to me it looked like it was only 3 -4mm below yesterdays mark.
Just got back from this mornings drive and there was no coolant leakage that I could see.
All hoses appear to be in good order. No pressure build up in the main rad hoses after a run.
Going to monitor it over the next week.
Man I hope it is just the cap! :D
