Not completely true. :BigCry:
My '91 drum brake Defender has the same (narrow bearing spacing) stub axle dimensions as the Disco 1. So there must be a change over sometime during Defender production.
(
Also the problem with the alloy rims is the external size of the hub casting, which can be machined off to fit the alloy rims without having to change stub axles or hubs.)
It also means that just like when fitting 110 front hubs onto 110 rear stubs there is a 20mm narrowing of the track.
Can we start a table, where we specify the VIN of the vehicle (or donor axle), whether they are narrow or wide bearing spacing and the height of the wheel face and drive flange face when the hub is sitting on the floor with the wheel face at the top?
This way we may be able to sort out all the differences in a single source.
I wonder if we should also check (and tabulate) the axle halfshaft lengths by inserting a measuring stick into the diff and measuring the flange face of the hub/s?

I will complete my measurments over the weekend.
