Was it a disco one or two transfer case you used?
It was a disco one, transfer case. I stripped it and checked it out before replacing all seals. I will stand corrected but you can use a disco 2 transfer, but some do not have the externals for the cdl. A kit can be purchased to fit them up. I think from the UK. Hope this helps . Also change over was about 2 hrs. The prop bolts are the worst part of the job. :p
The other difference is the D1 tfr uses a mechanical linkage for the hi/lo and cdl activation. The D2 uses cables for both. Also the D2 early boxes have the internals (up to mid '02?) but no internal lever for CDL (hi/lo only). Then they dropped the internals until late '03 (???) and had Hi/Lo only and then added the internals and also added the lever for both hi/lo and CDL from late '03 until end of run.
d2 also have no drilling / facility or gear in the rear output housing for a speed sensor/ speedo drive. the SLABS system inputs the speed signal.
