I may have mentioned before that with 2,500kg on the front axle I am worried about the swivel housings.
In the thread about Portals there was a photo of Mals with a swivel brace.
Does anyone know how it was made, as in what consists of the lower bearing etc?
I don't know what Mal used. Marks use a large tierod end. I don't know what Tibus did, but then IMO he hasn't braced them properly, but I'm not picking on the bearing he used, just the brace itself.
Probably the ball joint used on the upper A-arm of rover rear suspension would make a good bearing for there.
Also there are some bearings used in the wishbones of the latter rover IFS that might be suitable. I have some information I can dig out later.
I don't know what Land Rover you own, but I think 2500kg on the front axle seems way, way over the top, my 300TDi Disco doesn't even weigh 2500kgs overall, have you had the front end over a weighbridge? Regards Frank.
Both Forward Controls .
The 2B had that on it over the weigh bridge when we were loaded for a Cape trip in the 80,s.
The 6x6 has that on the front all the time and another 2500kg split between the two back axles.
I gather a custom bottom pin is made and a bearing housed in the bit that is braced back to the axle housing end.
